Professional Experience
Ambassador Clifford Nii Amon Kotey is a seasoned diplomat and consultant with over
three decades of experience in international relations and public administration. He has held
key positions in Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Supervising Director for the
Africa and Regional Integration Department, where he oversaw the Africa and AU, NEPAD,
and ECOWAS Bureaus.
Ambassador Kotey has represented Ghana at numerous international forums, including the
United Nations, the African Union, and the Non-Aligned Movement, and played pivotal roles
in organizing the AU Summit (2007) and ACP Summit (2008). His diplomatic postings
include assignments in New York, Riyadh, Brussels, Berlin, and Morocco, where he served
as Ghana’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Mr. Kotey’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and
Modern History and a graduate diploma in International Affairs from the University of Ghana.
He further undertook advanced studies in Public Administration at the University of
Minnesota under the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship and completed a second postgraduate
diploma in International Affairs at the Academy of Social Sciences and Management in Sofia
in Bulgaria.
In addition to his professional achievements, Ambassador Kotey, known in Ga Traditional
circles as Nii Kotey Amon III serves as Asere Dzasetse, a role that highlights his leadership
within Ghana’s traditional governance structures as well. His deep understanding of
chieftaincy law and its intersection with contemporary legal frameworks positions him
uniquely to advise clients on matters involving traditional leadership and governance.
His wealth of experience in diplomacy, governance, traditional and international affairs
